About Susie

Susie is a dynamic workshop leader as well as a talented singer-songwriter, voice coach, composer for choirs, ceremonial singer and yoga nidra teacher. She tours internationally with her popular song leader trainings, soulful concerts, harmony singing workshops, retreats and improvisation weekends, sharing her heart-felt music and joy of singing together wherever she goes.

"My songs often come to me, or through me, in a moment of inner realisation, or a deep movement of emotion, when something is stirring me. Sometimes they come in times when I feel troubled, they come like a balm of deeper wisdom that can shift and transform the contracted space I was in. Many of my songs represent a letting go of a layer I was holding onto, the creativity helping me move through stuckness. The songs can come in a moment of grace, a deep reverence for nature, a falling to my knees in humbleness, feeling the interconnectedness of all things."

She lives with her partner Jack in Dartington, Devon, where her connection with nature and community fuels her musical offerings.

After almost 15 years of a packed schedule of events and travelling, Susie is making more space in her life for rejuvenating time at home, saying yes to just a few workshop, concert and festival invitations throughout the year that feel really alive and special to her.

Susie Ro in nature

Susie is currently working on her second studio album (she has some live and bootleg releases also), with Txai Fernando in Norway, which will feature many well-loved songs which her fans will recognise from her concerts over the past few years. She’s really looking forward to finally releasing these songs into the world next year.

The Prater Family

Susie was born in New Zealand, and moved to the UK when she was 9. She was surrounded by music and harmony songs all her childhood, and apparently could sing before she could talk! Her greatest inspiration and teacher was her father Nick Prater, who flew off to sing with the angels in December 2013.

Susie started leading groups and choirs at the age of 18, with a huge inspiration for this being all her years attending Unicorn Natural Voice Camp. Susie was Steiner Waldorf School educated and feels this is a big part of inspiring a freedom, security and confidence within her to follow her dreams and passions.

As well as her in person concerts, workshops and trainings in Europe and further afield, Susie offers eCourses and online mentoring, so you can work with her wherever you are in the world.
