Nick Prater

What an honour to have had this man as my father. He had been my biggest inspiration and over the years has taught me everything I know.

Nick was a renowned pioneer of the community choir movement who, for 35 years, enthusiastically encouraged people of all walks of life to sing together. In his incredible life he gave people so much through his songs and humble presence, and inspired joy and hope in many hearts and voices.

On 24th December 2013 he made his big journey across to the other realms and the family were overwhelmed with love and support from the many people who's lives he had touched. In his honour, Choirs all over the country were singing his songs and this is something Susie continues to do, as she will always teach at least one of his songs at every workshop she runs.

He published four books of his songs, ‘Heaven in my Heart’, ‘Every time I Feel the Spirit’, ‘Morning Has come’  and ‘Come my Sisters, Come my Brothers’, a Teacher’s resource arising from his many years work in Steiner Schools.

These books are available from the shop and at Susie's workshops.

My Little Cup

All the Colours of the Dawn

23rd December 2017: Celebrating your 70th birthday! - I could not believe what I found a couple of weeks ago when I was clearing all my belongings, a CD of a song I had written for Dad in 2011 as a last minute Christmas gift, before we knew he was poorly. I had forgotten that this song existed (and have since unknowingly written another song called Flame!), and the words I wrote for him have totally blown me away. It is like receiving a treasure I had buried and have rediscovered, brimming with mysterious prophecy. I love you Dad and thanks for continuing to guide me.

Flame for Nick PraterSusie Ro

Now I can see that we will never part
For you are within me and I live in your heart
Now it is clear that you will never leave
For the flame that you passed down
Will always burn/live in me
